When the popular shopping centre in Frederiksberg opened its major extension in 2015, CSK was stamped on all steel structures and metalwork.

The most recent expansion to Frederiksberg Centre includes an extra floor containing shops, two new parking decks, and new façades, entrances, staircases, railing and walkways.

Innovative construction

From an engineering perspective, the most striking thing about CSK’s contribution was the alternative solution we chose for the new shop floor and the top parking deck.

The solution differs from traditional structures by using active formwork profiles as part of an overall composite design, and steel beams and plates were reinforced and cast in concrete on the construction site.

One of the main advantages of building the structural components as composite structures is a markedly lower weight. In this project, this meant that further reinforcement of Frederiksberg Centre’s foundation was not necessary.
