The four-kilometre-long Storstrøm Bridge will be Denmark’s third largest bridge. All concrete elements for the large bridge construction project are being cast locally on Masnedø, where CSK has built four production halls for the purpose.
The establishment of the extensive building site for construction of the bridge between Zealand and Falster is an extraordinary construction project in itself. In order to produce the many concrete elements for the road and railway bridge, without being delayed by poor weather conditions, the Danish Road Directorate and the Italian turnkey contractor have commissioned four large production halls on Masnedø island, almost 200 metres south of Vordingborg.
The four production halls together cover an area of 30,000 m2. The largest hall accounts for half of this alone, with a length of 305 metres, a width of 53.5 metres and a height of 25 metres.
The steel frames for the four halls have been constructed and installed by CSK. They have also been built to be reused – either on Masnedø or in later projects elsewhere in Denmark.
