Hotel Copenhagen Island is a gem in the middle of Copenhagen harbour. The hotel is quite literally in the harbour, on its very own island. And its distinctive architecture adds to the visual experience of the harbour.
The architecture of Hotel Copenhagen Island clearly testifies to Kim Utzon Arkitekters’ appreciation of raw building elements. The hotel is thus a unique combination of dynamic concrete elements and sleek, distinctive steel structures in the staircases, balconies and façades.
The steel stands in contrast to the many glass sections, welds and joins, which have been incorporated into the architecture rather than hidden away.
Arp-Hansen Hotel Group chose not to have Hotel Copenhagen Island classified under the standard star system – simply because the quality of the hotel is off the scale.
